Girls on the Run of Greater Baton Rouge is proud to welcome Run Louisiana as the title sponsor for the 2012 Girls on the Run 5k spring and fall events.

Run Louisiana is a movement inspired by Claim Your Journey – a digital guide for running in Louisiana developed to be a one-stop news source for families in Louisiana interested in running. The Run Louisiana movement was designed to raise awareness about the inactivity crisis in Louisiana and they actively fight this crisis by promoting running as the first choice for a healthier and more active lifestyle.

As title sponsor of the Girls on the Run 5k, the Run Louisiana community is committed to raising funds and awareness and funds for our organization, ensuring the continued growth and success of GOTR in our community. Many Run Louisiana supporters are already active in our program as volunteer coaches and year-round volunteers.

Claim Your Journey founder, Brandon Williams recognizes that our youth is the “next Run Louisiana generation” and he has officially welcomed our girls to the Run Louisiana family, exposing them to an ever-growing community of supporters and mentors.

Registraton is now open for the Run Louisiana Girls on the Run 5k, held May 5th at Pennington Biomedical Research Center. This inspiring event is open to men, women, boys and girls of all ages. All finishers will receive a custom medal and everyone will be treated to pre and post-race festivities and a pancake breakfast sponsored by Another Broken Egg. The Run Louisiana Girls on the Run 5k is powered by Performance Races.

A new season of Girls on the Run is upon us and the GOTR staff, Board of Directors and volunteer coaches couldn’t be more excited! With 18 schools on our list this spring and 24+ teams, we are prepared to share the joy and excitement of our program with more than 350 girls!

A warm welcome to our new sites: Episcopal, Lowery Middle and The Dow Westside YMCA! And a tremendous thank you to the people who were touched by our mission and took the initiative to get the ball rolling. Our passionate volunteers are the reason so many girls are receiving the life changing experience of Girls on the Run!
